I am a "Science and Innovation" Lecturer in the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham,
working in the Automated Scheduling, Optimisation and Planning Research Group (ASAP).

o Despite this being our first attempt in high school timetabling,
we (The HySST team: Ahmed, myself and Andrew) generated the best new solutions for three given instances in Round 1 and gained the second place in Rounds 2 and 3 at
the 3rd International Timetabling Competition with a fairly standard stochastic search method but significantly enhanced by an easy-to-implement hyper-heuristic.
