Special Appearance...

• The 1998 winner of the Yuri Rubinsky Memorial Award was the hypertext community's very own Ted Nelson! As previous recipients of this award include Douglas Engelbart, it seems that hypertext is recognised as a key technology of the Web. The take-home token of Nelson's award was a digeridoo. Social Events

• Meet the Australian animals! There was a small menagerie of animals in the centre, that delegates could handle and pose for photographs with, including wombats, koalas, lorikeets and a tawny frogmouth owl. The koala eventually got tired of it all and started to wander off! And the wombats weren't too keen either and tried to dig through the floor to escape.
