Research

I am currently reading for a PhD degree at the School of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Nottingham. The area of my interest is in multi-objective approaches to operational research with emphasis on personnel scheduling. My research project is under the supervision of Dr Dario Landa-Silva.

The project, which is funded by ORSAS, the School of Computer Science and Information Technology and the University of Nottingham, investigates a new approach to personnel scheduling.

We are currently developing a new evolutionary algorithm to tackle multi-objective optimsation problems. The new algorithm was initially tested on the QMC model which was designed as part of my MRes degree. We are currently working with the Bus Driver Problem to test the viability of the algorithm.

A full description of the QMC nurse scheduling problem is available at http://www.cs.nott.ac.uk/~kxl/research/QMC/qmc.html
