Project Title: Mobile Phone Picture Upload and Storage Facility Student: Benjamin David Challis Course: BSc Hons Computer Science and Management Abstract: The growth of mobile and wireless technology in the last decade has been astonishing. It is now common place to see children as young as 10 with mobile phones and it is certain that young people are behind the boom in the number of text messages that are being sent daily. The development of camera phones by mobile phone manufacturers is simply one further string in their bow to becoming a complete hand held device. Increasingly we are seeing mobile phones coming feature packed with MP3 players, cameras, address books, calendars and so forth. However the biggest development area at the moment is that the imporvement of the camera in camera phones. Currently there are various standards in technology of camera phones. Currently there are various standards in technology of camera phones, ranging from 0.1 mega pixel camera up to Sony releasing next month the K750i which incorporates a 2 mega pixel camera. This is still far off the realms that they have in Japan, were Casio has released the A5406CA which has a 3 mega pixel camera. The increase in resolution of these cameras is the drive behind my project. I aim to develop a system which will easily enable users to store and share the photos that they take on their mobile phones.
