Project Title: A Decision-Support System for Office Space Management Student: Andrew Barnett Course: BSc Hons E-Commerce and Digital Business Abstract: The dissertation investigates and develops a software system to provide a decision support system for the management of space and allocation of tenants. The report is produced with the assistance of Senior Officers from a London Local Authority and with the support of the University of Nottingham Computer Science Department. The problem description is developed through the evaluation and analysis of existing systems and processes. These are flowcharted and evaluated such that re-engineering can take place to produce a closed looped process and assist with the development of the software tool. Information searches prove to be very limited on the subject and much of the literature review has been supported by local government directives. The client during the initial stages of the investigation confirmed that this was the case. The report outlines the system specification which was developed in conjunction with the client, using process flow charts as the input into the design phase. The report describes the obstacles that were encountered in the system development, and solutions that were developed to circumvent issues that arose. The end product resulted in a space allocation decision support tool to match tenants to buildings.
