Project Title: Survey and Analysis of Demand Forecasting in Workforce Scheduling Student: Lingxiao Li Course: Bsc Hons Computer Science and Management Abstract: Labour demand forecasting is a complex process, not only because its nature of future predication but also the various forecasting methodologies always make users confused. The current existing software within labour abilities could work out a prediction result but with no suggestions for users about the suitable approaches they could implement. This project aims to deal with the problem of selection process. In this report seven commonly used approaches from literature are being introduced and analysed to find its suitable organisations and situations. Based on this, a system is being built with automatic slection function to help users make a pre-judgement. The information about each approach will be shown to users with examples to help understanding. The system also provides calculation function to help users to work out a predication result. Generally the new develoed system has more comprehensive functions compared with existing ones. While it is still a decision support system with no ability of making the final judgement. In this report, the seven forecasting approaches and the system development processes will be specifically described.
