Project Title: Representation and Evaluation of Constraints in Workforce Scheduling Student: Jinghong Ye Course: Bsc in Computer Science and Business Management Studies Abstract: All the rules about managing business in today's environment have changed. And the times are compelling. Nowadays, in order to remain competitive, leading companies employ dynamic and flexible workforce. Managing complex and decentralized worker populations comprised of various aspects including direct employees, temporary and contingent workers, pay-rolled resources and independent contractors, which can absolutely be a daunting task. As a manager, driving and managing business has never been more challenging, even if the foremost task - to schedule the employees. Therefore, to analyze different typical workforces, and then based on which to build efficient systems to help the managers handle this problem is definitely necessary. The primary aim of this project is to investigate the logical constraints exist in different workforce scheduling system via a series of case studies and to represent and evaluate them as a basis of producing a system which will improve upon the methods that is currently in use. The paper provides fundamental knowledge-base suited for workforce scheduling system development technicians to build specific systems according to the different classical type of workforce with different constraints.
