Abstract:
As cloud applications have become one of the major trends of application development, 
this paper will investigate about how cloud computing is affecting the interaction 
between users and certain types of system, for example how it changes the way people 
deal with workforce scheduling when the system can be accessed using hand held devices.
The design and development of a web-based workforce scheduling system will be investigated 
in this thesis. The testing of the system will be based on the functionality of the system 
and its ability to meet the criteria of building a cloud based system that is set in this 
thesis. This paper proposes a design and architecture that would accommodate the users' 
need of mobility and accessibility as well as the flexibility and the scalability for the 
developers. How the system is designed and its architecture is crucial to its performance 
and usability. It is taken into consideration for future development and maintenance.
