Project Title: An Agent Based Simulation Approach to Solving a Workplace Scheduling and Routing Problem Student: George Evans Course: MSc in Scientific Computation Abstract: The Workplace Scheduling and Routing Problem involves assigning workers to a selection of visits at a number of unique locations. Solutions to this problem attempt to maximise efficiency in reducing costs and overall time wasted. This paper focuses on Home Healthcare, in which nurses are assigned a selection of visits to clients at their homes. This study shows the progress made towards building a simulation model designed to work alongside pre-existing data in order to visualise these visits taking place. This is a fresh approach to solving this problem, which provides a means of distorting the data when the simulation is running by introducing delays and removing either nurses or clients from the system. The final model produces working timetables for the given inputs, comparable to other solutions that take the same inputs.
