Dr Julie Greensmith did her undergraduate degree in Pharmacology with lots of computing courses on the side, and then a masters in Bioinformatics at Leeds. She spent some time as an intern in some fancy company (HP Labs), before taking up a PhD position at the University of Nottingham. This was followed by postdoctoral research and now a lectureship.

Her research is in two exciting areas - artificial immune systems, and the way in which people experience thrill on roller coasters and extreme rides.  She's published a metric ton of cool peer reviewed journal and conference papers, and she plans to be Prof Greensmith by the age of 12.  In her spare time she enjoys lion taming (despite a cat allergy), brass banding, had an album peak at number 10634 on itunes and is proud to have recently obtained Sabatier sponsorship for her knife juggling act. Ok, so the bit about knife juggling isn’t true but the rest of it is.

I am proud to be the representative for Women In Technology for Funny Women’s 10th Anniversary Gala Event. I have to do stand up comedy in front of a paying audience. If you would like to sponsor me to raise money for the fabulous Angelus Foundation please visit the following link and wish me luck!
