Exam

This module is assessed by a TWO hour exam. Notes on this exam are available here.

Coursework

There is one coursework assignment for this module - worth 25% of the marks.  This should typically take you about 20 hours, and consist of a report/essay of about 2,000 words (this is a rough guideline only - but it should be within about 10% of this).  References and appendices don't count in this word total.  You should submit a paper copy to the School office, as well as an electronic copy online. The deadline for both is 4pm on Wednesday 2nd December, 2009. You should submit the electronic version of your coursework using the cw system - as documented in the CW Coursework Submission Information for Students.

The coursework should address the following topic:
Choose a product/system that is interactive (i.e. has a display and a control component) and that you have used personally.  Based on your experience of use and relevant Human Factors knowledge, provide an expert appraisal of the technology which addresses:
  • the usability issues (problems, good aspects, etc.) associated with the product/system,
  • why such issues arise, and
  • how Human Factors input has ensured/could ensure a usable design.
Further information is available in the Coursework lecture slides.
